The Gauteng Provincial Legislature (GPL) will convene its annual Women’s Sector Parliament on Friday, 26 August 2022 at the Westonaria Sports Complex in the West Rand.

The Women’s Sector Parliament is one of the established methods that GPL continues to use for meaningful citizen participation in legislative processes. Through this platform the Legislature facilitates impactful discussions on challenges and realities facing Women, which infringe on their constitutional rights as citizens – and participants explore possible solutions and charge the Provincial Government to take action.

In this year’s Women’s Sector Parliament, discussion topics are centred around the efforts to alleviate Women abuse, as well as their meaningful collaboration with government. The topics include:

  • The never-ending spate of abuse and murder of Women, children and the LGBTIQ+ community
  • Opportunities for the economic empowerment of Women
  • The role and contribution of Gauteng women in public health care.
