On Friday, 22 July 2022 the Gauteng Provincial Legislature will host this year’s Youth Sector Parliament at the Vereeniging Civic Centre in Sedibeng under the theme: “Gauteng Legislature, following up on our commitments to the Youth of Gauteng”

This sector parliament will offer the youth a platform to engage with policy makers, to influence and enhance the quality of youth life in the province and in the communities, where service delivery is needed and encourage innovative ways to better their lives.

In the midst of increasing youth unemployment, economic exclusion, increase in school dropout and substance abuse and lack of youth participation in mainstream politics, this platform presents an opportunity for GPL to engage robustly with the Youth of Gauteng – in order to solicit their recommendations on how these can be addressed.

Youth Parliament will debate the followings topics:
• Participatory Democracy: The importance of youth participation in politics and voting
• The role of SMMEs in addressing youth unemployment
• Availability and access to sport, arts, culture and recreation facilities
• The effect of youth unemployment on mental health

It will also be streamed live on YouTube: https://youtu.be/li_6eiQMryI and Facebook: https://fb.me/e/26Ax84iOr
