COMMITTEE MOURNS THE PASSING OF COMMUNITY SAFETY ACTING HOD

The Gauteng Provincial Legislature’s (GPL) Portfolio Committee on Community Safety joins the rest of the Gauteng public service sector in mourning the untimely passing of the Department of Community Safety Acting Head of Department Mr Sipho Thanjekwayo. Mr Thanjekwayo reportedly passed away yesterday (Wednesday, 28th July) due to Covid-19 complications.

Mr Thanjekwayo will be fondly remembered for his diligence and commitment to his work, which he demonstrated on the occasions when he appeared before the Portfolio Committee to account on programs of the Department. His passion for the safety and security of the people of Gauteng was unquestionable, testament to that was his active involvement in mobilising communities to do their part in fighting the scourge of crime and violence in society. The entire Gauteng community has indeed suffered a great loss due to his passing.

The Portfolio Committee sends heartfelt condolences to his family and friends in the face of this tragic loss, may they be comforted. May the fond moments they shared forever keep him alive in their hearts.
