The Gauteng Provincial Legislature’s CoGTA and e-Governance Portfolio Committee invites members of the public and all interested stakeholders to submit comments on the Independent Municipal Demarcation Authority Bill (2022). The Bill aims to establish criteria and procedures for the determination and redetermination of municipal boundaries, including the demarcation of municipal wards.

The Bill provides for the establishment of the Independent Municipal Demarcation Authority and the Appeals Authority, outlining their composition, functions, and powers. It also addresses matters related to the term of office, proceedings, conflict of interest, and remuneration of members of the Appeals Authority.

Interested stakeholders are encouraged to review the Bill and submit written comments by Friday, 23 February 2023. Comments can be sent to Ms Jabulile Nyembe via WhatsApp on 079 522 8686 or via email at: JNyembe@gpl.gov.za.

The Portfolio Committee will also be convening public hearings on the Bill to solicit input from stakeholders. Details of the Public Hearings are as follows:
