The Gauteng Provincial Legislature invites all interested stakeholders and individuals to comment on amendments made to the Children’s Amendment Bill- Section 76.

The Bill responds to the comprehensive legal solution relating to foster care system providing holistic protection to vulnerable children as ordered by the North Gauteng High Court in 2011.

The Bill seeks to amend the Children’s Act, 2005, so as to amend and insert certain definitions; to extend the children’s court jurisdiction; to further provide for the care of abandoned or orphaned children and additional matters that may be regulated; to provide for additional matters relating to children in alternative care; and to provide for matters connected therewith.

Once the Bill has been enacted, it is predicted that a marked improvement will be observed in the lives of vulnerable children, their caregivers and their parents.
