GAUTENG PROVINCIAL LEGISLATURE TO HOST 2026 WOMEN’S SECTOR PARLIAMENT.

The Gauteng Provincial Legislature will host its annual Women’s Sector Parliament on Wednesday,09 September 2026. The engagement provides a platform for women from across Gauteng to engage directly with public representatives on issues affecting their lives, communities and socio-economic well-being.

This Sector Parliament forms part of the Legislature’s commitment to strengthening public participation and ensuring that the voices and experiences of women inform legislative and oversight processes. The 2026 programme will be held under the theme, “Empowered Women – Empower the Nation”, in commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the historic 1956 Women’s March.

Women from Gauteng’s five regions, including representatives from community organisations, civil society, academia, business, professional sectors and other formations, will deliberate on key issues affecting women. Discussions will focus on the importance of voting and service deliveryaccess to education and scarce skillseconomic inclusion and poverty alleviationthe informal economy and immigration, as well as high-risk health issues affecting women.

The platform will enable women to share their experiences, raise concerns, propose solutions and adopt resolutions aimed at addressing challenges affecting women in Gauteng. The engagement further seeks to strengthen women’s participation in legislative processes and advance the Legislature’s commitment to taking Parliament to the people.

Members of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature, representatives from the Gauteng Provincial Government, women’s organisations, community structures, business and professional sectors and other stakeholders are expected to participate in the programme.
