AN ASSESSMENT ON THE RESOURCE ALLOCATION TO SAPS TO FIGHT CRIME IN GAUTENG

The Gauteng Provincial Legislature’s Portfolio Committee on Community Safety led by Honorable Alphina Ndlovana, will on 3 and 4 September 2021 at 10h00 host a hybrid Safety Seminar to assess whether Law Enforcement Agencies in Gauteng, especially the South African Police Services (SAPS) are sufficiently equipped to fight crime in the Province.
The seminar aims to;


• Address the relationship between population and SAPS resource allocation in fighting crime. The ratio of police officers to people and how this affects crime prevention;
• Assess if law enforcement agencies are making strides in the fight against crime;
• Assess if interventions to curb violent crimes against women and children are effective; and
• To recommend strategies to fight crime in the Province.
