SCOPA CONVENES HEARINGS TO REVIEW GOVERNMENT PERFORMANCE

Chairperson Sochayile Khanyile will lead the Legislature’s Standing Committee of Public Accounts (Scopa) in its engagements with selected Gauteng Provincial Government Departments and their entities to discuss the Auditor General’s findings on their 2020/21 performance.

The engagements will take place during tomorrow’s public hearings, Friday, 19 November 2021, which form part of Scopa’s oversight mechanisms on the Provincial Executive, aimed at accelerating and improving service delivery in Gauteng.

In preparation for tomorrow’s hearings, the Auditor General’s office will brief Scopa on its audit findings as they relate to the annual performance of the following Gauteng Government Departments and their entities:
• Gauteng Department of Health;
• Gauteng Department of Human Settlements;
• Department of Roads & Transport;
• G-Fleet Management Entity;
• Gauteng Department of Infrastructure Development; and
• Gauteng Department of Social Development.
Scopa will also consider the findings of the research analysis conducted on each of the Departments and its entities.

The hearings will afford the Committee an opportunity to interrogate government leaders on their Departments’ performance, as well as their plans to address adverse performance findings.

They will be conducted part-virtually and in a contact format – streaming live from 9am on the Legislature’s social media platforms with the following links:
