GAUTENG MPLs TO VISIT THE HAEMATOLOGY CENTRE IN SOWETO
Chairperson of Committees at the Gauteng Provincial Legislature, Hon Sizakele Malobane-Nkosi will lead a delegation of Members of the Provincial Legislature (MPLs) for a visit to the Zakithi Nkosi Haematology Clinical Centre based at the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital in Diepkloof, Soweto on Wednesday 13 July 2022 at 10h00.
The purpose of the visit, which will include an information session and touring of the facility, is for MPLs to be enlightened about the importance of the facility and on possible future endeavours by the Centre in creating a functioning health system as well as the upgrading of critical health infrastructure. The Centre was launched in 2019 as part of the public-private partnership (PPP) between the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital and the Stanley and Daphne Nkosi Foundation. The Centre was named after the Nkosis late daughter Zakithi, who succumbed to a rare and fatal blood disorder called Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) at the tender age of 19. The Centre is the first clinic of its kind in South Africa that predominantly focus on the treatment of different forms of blood disorders.
