GAUTENG LEGISLATURE SENDS CONDOLENCES FOLLOWING THE PASSING OF MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT, HONOURABLE TINA JOEMAT-PETTERSSON

The Gauteng Legislature has learnt with shock the sad news of the passing of Honourable Tina Joemat-Pettersson – a beloved comrade to us and servant to a great many South Africans.

Hon. Joemat-Pettersson served the people of her province, the Northern Cape, through the Mass Democratic Movement and served the South African people through various portfolios in Government and Parliament.  Her untimely passing has certainly robbed us of a seasoned politician, lawmaker, and comrade.

We now count Hon. Joemat-Pettersson among our many beloved Leaders who made their mark in our Country, and whose memory and legacy will forever remain for generations to come.

The Speaker of the Legislature, Hon Lentheng Mekgwe on behalf of fellow Presiding Officers, Members of the Legislature, Executive and Staff hereby offers heartfelt condolences to the late MPs’ family, friends, relatives and the entire legislative sector in this difficult time of loss. 

May the family, Comrades and friends of the late MP Joemat-Pettersson be comforted by the richness and profound meaning of the life she lived, and the many lives that she impacted upon through her work and dedication to public service. May the soul of Hon. Joemat-Pettersson rest in peace!
