On behalf of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature (GPL), I would like to convey seasonal greetings and well wishes to the people of Gauteng for the imminent festive holidays. As we wrap up an eventful 2016 we need to take time off to rest and enjoy the festivities of this time of the year with our loved ones. It is a time for us all to take stock of the Creator’s goodness and blessings that characterised our year.

This period is also an appropriate opportunity for all of us to take pride in our accomplishments, highlight our successes and reflect on our short falls in order for us to rise above them and reinvigorate our minds in preparation for a prosperous 2017.

As a province this year saw us make significant progress in our shared responsibility of making Gauteng a better place to live.  We have demonstrated in our work and contributed in our various ways that we are indeed a province of champions and strive for the attainment of nothing but the best for our Province.

As we look forward to a new year, a vision of a province free from inequality, unemployment and poverty must resonate in our minds.  We must recommit ourselves to work harder than ever before to build a province that we can all take pride in calling our own.

I hereby wish you and yours a splendid Holiday Season, filled with joy, love and good health; and encourage you all to be safe on the roads, patient and tolerant towards each other.

The Legislature will be on recess from 15 December 2016 until 4 January 2017, affording GPL employees a well-deserved opportunity to rest and recover from the toils of the year that has been.

With these words, I wish you all well and pray we all return from the holiday period safe and sound; and ready to resume the task of uniting in building a better Gauteng for all.
