The 9th Annual Vita Basadi Awards

Every year, Gauteng Provincial Legislature honours excellence in voluntary acts of community service by Gauteng women who help those around them and make a positive impact in their communities without reward. Loosely translated into ‘women of virtue’ from Swahili and SeSotho, the awards’ ceremony forms part of the Legislature’s comprehensive programme for Women’s month, in August, to shine the spotlight on the powerful force that women are. The programme also celebrates gains made to date in pushing back barriers to women emancipation and inclusion, as well as defending their rights.
