On Tuesday, 24 February 2026, the Oversight Committee on the Premier’s Office and Legislature (OCPOL) will host a Gauteng Intergovernmental Oversight and Coordination Workshop. The core theme for the summit is: ADDRESSING SYSTEMATIC SERVICE DELIVERY CHALLENGES THROUGH COLLABORATIVE INTERVENTIONS IN GAUTENG.

The purpose of the workshop is to strengthen intergovernmental oversight, coordination, and accountability in Gauteng by facilitating a structured engagement between municipalities and the Gauteng Provincial Legislature, particularly committees with mandates similar to the Oversight Committee on the Premier’s Office and Legislature

The workshop seeks to:

▪ Strengthen understanding of oversight roles and responsibilities between Gauteng municipalities, the Office of the Premier, and the Provincial Legislature.

▪ Improve alignment between municipal planning frameworks (IDPs, SDBIPs) and provincial priorities, including the Gauteng Development Plan (GDP) and the Medium-Term Strategic Framework (MTSF).

▪ Share best practices on oversight models, particularly lessons from the Oversight Committee on the Premier’s Office and Legislature and comparable municipal oversight committees (e.g., OCMOL, MPACs).

▪ Identify systemic governance and service delivery challenges requiring transversal provincial intervention.

▪ Strengthen monitoring, evaluation, reporting, and consequence management across the Gauteng government and municipalities.

▪ Experts in academia
