The Portfolio Committee congratulates Swallows FC on Winning the 2019/20 GladAfrica Championship and gaining automatic promotion to the PSL.
Gauteng Provincial Legislature Portfolio Committee on Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture, led by the Chairperson Honourable William Matsheke wish to congratulate Swallows FC on winning the GladAfrica Championship and gaining automatic promotion to the PSL for next season.
The Dube Birds as Swallows FC is affectionately known deserves their place in the PSL, the dedication of the players and Management should be commended. Swallows FC is amongst the oldest teams in South Africa and we are confident that it will remain in the PSL for many years to come.
On behalf of the soccer loving people of Gauteng we want to thank Swallows FC players and Management for making sure the Dube Birds fly again in the PSL, this is a deserved promotion for the old lady of South African Soccer. This confirms that indeed Gauteng is a home of Champions said Chairperson Matsheke.
The number of Gauteng based PSL teams keeps on rising and it is befitting that this automatic promotion comes at a time when the Gauteng Provincial Government is hosting the Bio Bubble Safe Environment in partnership with the PSL.
Swallows FC are one of the original two Soweto clubs, together with Orlando Pirates, the people of Soweto and Gauteng are ecstatic about the return of this Team to the PSL, let the Dube Birds fly higher and higher in the PSL for many years to come, welcome back.
