The Portfolio Committee on Roads and Transport invites interested stakeholders to public hearings on the proposed Gauteng Transport Authority Bill and the Gauteng Provincial Road Traffic Amendment Bill.

Gauteng Roads Traffic act

Gauteng Transport Authority Bill

This Bill seeks to provide for the establishment of a Gauteng Transport Authority and matters connected therewith.  A legally constituted Gauteng Transport Authority will seek to transform the current fragmentation of public transport governance and co-ordinate the management of public transport institutions in the Province. By establishing this Authority it is envisaged that the Gauteng Department of Roads and Transport’s 25-year Integrated Transport Master Plan (ITMP25) will be more effective. The Authority will among others facilitate integrated planning and co-ordination of public transport in the City Region.
