 Press Release NCOP Week: Gauteng Provincial legislature gears up for National Council of Provinces week (15-19 April 2013).  “Moving with utmost speed to ensure socio-economic advancement in our communities” . The Gauteng Provincial Legislature embarks on its week long programme hosting parliamentary delegates representing Gauteng in the National parliament of the Republic of South Africa.  This week is the National Council of Provinces (NCOP) week and all legislatures across the country will embark on similar activities.  The GPL as led by the Deputy Chair of Chairpersons of Committees, Hon. Valentine Mbatha has an intense programme where visits will take place around Gauteng, giving the public an opportunity to interact directly with representatives of parliament as well as the Gauteng Provincial government as led by the Premier Hon. Nomvula Mokonyane.

NATIONAL COUNCIL OF PROVINCES (NCOP) WEEK: Under the theme: ‘Moving with utmost speed to ensure socio-economic advancement in our communities’, the National Council of Provinces (NCOP) will hold its Provincial Week from the 15th to 19th April 2013. A series of activities has been scheduled, which will take place at various regions of the Province as part of NCOP Week Programme.

  • National Environmental Management Act, 1998;
  • National Environmental Management: Biodiversity Act, 2004;
  • National Environmental Management: Air Quality Act, 2004;
  • National Environmental Management Laws      Amendment Act, 2009; and;
  • National Environment Management: Protected Areas Amendment Act, 2009.

 MEDIA Advisory-Sedibeng oversight visit by Roads and Transport Committee 2013. Gauteng Legislature Committee for Roads and Transport will undertake an oversight visit to the Sedibeng region on Tuesday 26 February 2013 from 09h30. The purpose of the visit is to assess and gather information regarding the status of the roads projects in the region. The department of roads and transport is expected to brief the Committee on projects been undertaken on R82 and K154 roads and on the construction of walkways in Sebokeng.

2010/05/15 MEDIA ADVISORY 13 May 2010 GAUTENG DEPARTMENTS TO APPEAR BEFORE SCOPA Gauteng departments of Education, Health and Gauteng Shared Services Centre (GSSC) will appear before SCOPA of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature on Friday 14 May at 09h00 in the Auditorium. The hearings will be looking at the performance audit of entities that are connected with Gauteng government employees and doing business with departments of Gauteng provincial administration. The report of the Auditor-General indicates that over 100 employees in the Education department who are directors or members of companies did business totaling R20 million with their own department and other departments. And that over 50 employees in the Health and Social Development department did business totaling R4million with their own department and other departments. At GSSC an amount totaling over R800 000 was paid to the companies connected to several employees. The departments are expected to explain whether investigations were conducted regarding all employees implicated and what actions were taken against them. 2010/04/17 The anti-apartheid and ANC stalwart Dr Ahmed Kathrada will address a special sitting of the Gauteng Legislature to celebrate Human Rights Day and Freedom Day. Kathrada, together with Nelson Mandela and others, was one of the longest serving political prisoners held on Robben Island. Dr. Kathrada will make a speech relating to where we are on the issue of human rights. He will also give his vision on our continued pursuit to strengthen our democracy in our beloved country.
