Gauteng Provincial Legislature (GPL) LEADS A MARCH FOR JUSTICE

The Presiding Officers of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature (GPL) will on Thursday, 28 September 2017 lead a march to the Tsakane Magistrate Court. This is in support of the family of a young female victim who was sexual assaulted and raped in 2010, and perpetrators not brought to book. Despite being reported, the matter did not receive any police attention, which led to the alleged repeated rape and assault of the victim by the same perpetrator.

Moved by the lack of justice for this brutal incident, members of the community organized a picket early this month to hand over a memorandum to Tsakane Police Station requesting that the matter be attended to and properly managed. The Speaker of the Legislature, Hon. Ntombi Mekgwe has thrown her weight behind the case by organising a march – calling for justice to be served”.

The march will be supported by the Multi-Party Women Caucus, Community Policing Forum, Cool-Dad’s Foundation and GPL Men’s Forum. The matter will finally be heard in the Tsakane Magistrate Court on, 28 September 2017.

The March will take place as follows:

Date:             Thursday, 28 September 2017
Time:           10h00
Venue:          Tsakane Customer Care Centre (Meeting Point), 10890 Zulu Street, Tsakane
